Stheno, Euryale, Medusa--The Three Gorgons

This is one of the three gorgons in the new story. This is Medusa, who is the queen of the gorgons. She cursed Oberon's wife Titania with slow petrification. She did this because she is jealous of Titania's immortality. Medusa and her sisters, Stheno and Euryale (who are immortal) are searching for a way to make Medusa immortal. Oberon sends Nathan and Rodrick to defeat the gorgons and the gorgons believe the weapons the boys wield are the key to getting what they seek.

This is Euryale, whos name means "farspringer" so I made her tail longer, and her wings more aerodynamic, so she can travel fast and gain distance. I also made her snake hair longer, and thicker, unlike Medusa's short thin "viper" like hair.

This is the third sister, Stheno, whos name means "the mighty". So I made her more power orientated. She has no wings, and a shorter, fatter tail, focusing more on strength than speed. She also has long talon like finger nails. Her hair is also for long, thick boa constrictor like snakes.

Nathan and Rodrick Story

So these two boys are Nathan (the left), and Rodrick (the right), are on a vacation in Ireland when they are transported to the mythical fairie underworld. While hiking they discover a giant rock with a large hole going right through it. Now ancient fairy lore states that a stone with a hole in it allows you to see into the fairy world. The guys, knowing this, thinking it would be funny to crawl through the rock and see what happens. Much to there suprise they actually crawl into the realm of fairie. Once there they try to leave but the rock is destroyed by a large explosion. The boys run, hearing a loud sound behind them, they attempt to look back, but a voice screaming not to look back, they keep running and fall in a hole, which close behind them. After awaking they are informed by a tall, antlered man that they are in the palace of Oberon, king of the fairies. He then reveales that he himself is Oberon. The boys, a bit shocked ask what was chasing them, and are told it was a gorgon, one of three in fact. Oberon then tells the boys that he is charging them with defeating the gorgons, and by doing so he will allow them to go home. He then gives the guys four mythical weapons. Nathan wields the legendary "Sword in the Stone" and a pair of magical gauntlets. Rodick wields the sword Excalibur and the hammer of Thor,  Mjölnir. Oberon tells the boys the weapons powers will allow them to look at the monsters and tells them where to find them. After fully realizing the situation they are in, the boys start walking only to meet a "mysterious stranger", she tells the guys why Oberon wants the gorgons destroyed. It turns out the gorgons cursed his wife, Titania queen of the fairies, with slow petrification. Instead of the instant "turning to stone" that most of the gorgons use to kill their enemies, Titania is slowy being turned to stone. The reason for this, the stranger says, is because Medusa, the queen of the gorgons, is jealous of Titania's immortality. The stranger also reveals that the gorgons are searching for a way to make Medusa immortal, since she, unlike her sisters Stheno and Euryale, is merely mortal. After stating this information, the stranger runs off. Now Nathan and Rodrick know why they must defeat the gorgons, the only question left is, how?

The Twenty Fifth Day: Evil Assassin

Ok so first off, sorry for not posting recently, I have more drawing classes this quarter so I'm busier. But I have managed to get more of my own drawings done.

So in the story about Lee, the assassin who gets her abilites from music, she also has compitition from another runner. A mysterious assassin known only as "Z". Z is jealous of Lee's technology and abilities, and wants them for her own. Her plan is to kill Lee, and copy the technology into her body. In an attempt to kill Lee, Z kidnaps Lady Blade to use as bait. Lee tracks her down, and manages to defeat Z, but not before learning that Z is actually a clone of Lee, however the procedure was botched, creating a "not complete" version. Hence why Z is out to destroy Lee, to prove she is the better one.

The Twenty Fourth Day: Assasin

So I was walking home from the bus stop a couple of days ago, when I thought up the greatest idea for a story. I knew I wanted to do a story about an assasin, but I couldn't figure out what to do. Then suddenly it hit me. The assasin has many different abilities, but she receives these abilities from listening to different songs. So if she wanted martial arts abilities, she would listen to a fast paced, action type song. If she needed stealth skills, she would listen to a slow paced, quiet song. All of her songs are sung by her boss, Lady Blade, a popular singer.

So the main character is Lee, is a "runner", runners do many jobs, bounty hunter, assassin, security guard, etc. She works with her close friend Lady Blade, a popular singer in the futuristic city of Pandora. Lee is the only runner of her kind because she gets all of her abilites from listening to music. She has two mp3 devices surgically implanted in her body, and mini speakers are inside her ears. Lady Blade sings all of the songs that Lee listens too.

The Twenty Third Day: Evil Mermaids

 

So these are the evil mermaids, the Reevers, that assist Odette in taking over the castle. They are smaller in size than typical mermaids, and not as sophisticated. Also they don't use a normal language, they use shrieks and grunts to communicate. They are extremely violent also, ripping enemies to shreds in the water. No one can figure out how Odette got them to follow her seeing as how they normally kill any outsiders.

Now a little more on the story. Odette is actually Minerva and Eliza'a sister, banished when they were very young for consorting with dark forces and attempting to overthrow the kingdom. The Queen used her magic to erase the memory of Odette from the girls memory hence why they don't remember her. Odette having been banished, lives as an outcast for years, devolping her magic and learning dark arts. Using this, she took control over many clans of Reevers living in the deep depths of the ocean. She then exacts her revenge, launching an attack on the palace. Using the Reevers to create chaos, she makes her way to the palace, and cold heartedly kills her mother. Minerva and Eliza witness this, and knowing they cannot win, flee the palace and the city. Still in shock over their mothers death, they know they must figure out a way to help save the city and take over the palace, probably killing Odette in the process.

The Twenty Second Day: Mermaid story

So I was so pleased with how my mermaid turned out for my Van story that I decided to do a story with mermaids as the characters. The story revolves around two sisters, Eliza and Minerva, who are daughters of the Queen. The live in a underwater city know as Hark, Minerva is a born warrior, and is the captain of the queens guard. Eliza is due to become the queen someday, and though not as skilled in the fighting arts as her sister she is quite skilled when it comes to magic. The two sisters love each other dearly and are always seen together, Minerva though sometimes quiet and reserved, when shes around Eliza she is a loud and fun loving as ever.

The perfect life is thrown into chaos when the castle is attacked by Reevers, a type of mermaid less sophisticated and more violent. As Minerva and Eliza race to the Queen's chambers they arrive in time to witness her murdered by Odette, a mermaid they have only heard of in gossip and rumors. She was banished from the kingdom when she attempted to overthrow it years ago.

When designing the characters I wanted to make Minerva and Eliza different looking but similar at the same time. I feel I accomplished that very well. I loved drawing Odette, my original plans for her were to be an old hag but my hand just went on its own and started drawing this beautiful but evil looking woman. I knew I wanted to give her a different tail, I knew I wasn't going to do octopus tentacles, because then it would be too "Little Mermaid" so I thought what is one of the more sinister creatures of the sea, and it hit me "Eels". I love how her tail turned out and it really add to her "evilness".

The Twenty First Day: Siren Singer

So this is the main badguy of the Van story. Her name is Serena and she is the new singer at the big club in town called Hart. She mainly performs her own original opera/pop songs, but she also does covers of popular songs of the time. The truth is she is actually a siren, and she is using her magical voice to slowly suck the power from the people of the town, and bend them to her will. She is taking their power, and using it to perform and ancient ritual to turn herself into a being of ultimate power. Van, Will, and Shannan must figure out who is controlling the demons in Darkrock, and who is causing the people of the town to act so sluggish and zombie like. Will performs a spell that reveals the evil, and it leads them to club Hart during one of Serena's shows. After some research they discover that Serena is over 500 years old and is performing a certain ritual based on ancient astrological correspondences. The time of the ritual is also during Serena's final performance. The concert will be set up at the local cemetary, "for a touch of gothica" said Serena, when really she set it up there to draw power from the many dead bodies and the people attending the concert. The Guild crashes the concert and battles Serena twice, once before transformation and once after.

This is the creature that Serena turns into, after her final concert.

The Twentieth Day: Monsters

So first off I wanted to say I'm sorry for not updating the blog for the past two days. I think I am going to start updating every other day so I have more time for drawings plus I am back in school and I won't have as much time as I did on break.

But I did get some drawings done of the bad guys in my new story about Van. I drew three creatures, Wailers, a Mermaid, and Vampires.

Now the Wailers are basically like henchmen. They do the dirty work for other demons and such, kinda like the putty men in power rangers. They are called Wailers because they emit this shrieking cry, kinda like a woman crying or something. They have no legs and use their hands to pull themselves along the ground. They can stand up though on their tail like appendages, but not for extended period of time. Normally they act as watch dogs. alerting other demons to their locations.

The next creature is a Mermaid, I wanted to include some sort of sea monster because the town of Darkrock is a coastal town. Now mermaids generally leave people alone, but every now and then you get a bad batch or if someone steals a mermaids treasure they are forced to do that persons bidding. They can go on land to attack their prey but not for really long extended amounts of time. They emit loud shrieks, and use their spiked tails, and claws to attack enemies. They also can hypnotize people, making them drown themselves or end their lives in other ways.

The last creature I drew so far are the vampires. Now to normal people a vampire may appear as a normal person. But to Van and other people with second sight they appear as decayed forms. They have extreme mental powers allowing them to glamor themselves and enthrall humans.  They appear natually as the corpse they are, so if a vampire was only dead for a couple days, it wouldn't appear that decayed, but if it is a century old vampire, they will look like a horribly decayed falling apart corpse. This vampire I drew is just an example, the left side is how we see them, the right side is how they appear to Van and The Guild.

I am going to upload more pictures of potential monsters, plus the main demon that is taking over the town in this story.

The Nineteenth Day: More Van details

Ok so here's the story of Van. His full name is Vanhelsing Rodrick Michaels and he's nineteen years old. He is sent by his mother to live with his godmother in the town of Darkrock because she is going on an important archeological expedition  in Haiti. He discovers his godmother, whos name is Margaret Williams, lives in the local museam. She then drops the bomb that he is actually part of a mystical bloodline of demon slayers. Van, being very easy going accepts this, especially he's been seeing alot of strange things lately.

The demon slayer works this way. The trait is passed through differnent generations of people. Its not determined by sex. A demon hunter can be boy, girl, there was even a set of twin demon hunters. When the person reaches a certain age they become able to see the creatures such as demons, vampires, werewolves, fairies, etc. They are also given the power to defeat these creatures and are aided by a set of magical vambrace. The vambrace allow the wearer to summon forth any weapon they own. Basically its a magical storage system. The vambrace also grant the wearer intense fighting and marial art skills, but the wearer still needs to learn how to harness these abilites and use them properly. It also allows the user to communicate with anyone from the guild.

The Guild are the slayers team mates, it consist of The Mage, The Sage, and The Hunter. The Mage is the primary magic caster of the group and The Hunter helps to track the demons and such. The Hunter is special because he/she is always a demon, or part demon themselves. The Sage is The Guilds teacher or mentor, giving them knowlegde and guidance.

After learning all of this, Margaret charges Van with finding the rest of the guild. The vambrace are supposed to assist him in this. While enrolling at The Darkrock University the next day, he discovers The Mage, a boy by the name of William Bradley, Will for short. Turns out Will was waiting for him, having had a premonition of the whole thing weeks before hand. They both are immediatly attracted to each other, and Will admits to having seen this happen too. They both agree to look for the hunter together and discover her later that night at a local club. Her name is Shannan Kooper, and she is half banshee. Being half banshee, she really isn't that shocked. She agrees to meet the group at the museam the next day.

Now that the group is all together, they must learn to defeat the monsters grouping in the town of Darkrock.

Van: Destroyer of the Dead

I'm going back to a story I thought up back in ninth grade. Its about this boy Van, short for Vanhelsing, who discovers hes a demon hunter. Originally when I created the story it was a mirror of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I had Van as the slayer, another character who looked an awful lot like Willow cast magic, and a random character much like Xander, there was also Van's uncle who acted as a "watcher" type character. For this new story I've totally changed the story, since I'm older and have more ideas. Van will be the slayer, but there will be a mage character and another character known as The Hunter. I did create a sort of teacher character that will be Van's god mother. I will post more details but as for now here is Van.

The Eighteenth Day: Home from the Cabin

So on Wednesday, me and my beloved friend Mindy, creator of the blog "Adventures of a Red-Headed Step Child", went on a trip up to my family cabin. Me, being the positive thinker was convinced we would make it there safely without getting lost or anything. Mindy however was convinced that we would get lost, and of course we did. My cabin is located in the Slippery Rock area of PA, and we ended up passing it immensly. However we used her gps and located slippery rock and proceeded to stop at the grocery store for food. We then called my father who directed us to the cabin. However once we got to the street it was located on, I thought I would be able to see it. Now my cabin is completely hidden from the road, if you don't look carefully you will pass up the barely visible tiny driveway. We ended up passing it three times. Finally we made it to the cabin and got set up. I immediatly started making beef stew while Mindy made amazing nachos. After watching a movie we then had dinner and went on another adventure to the store, after coming back me and Mindy were chilling on the couch when we heard a shuffling noise upstairs. We both thought the place had been broken into, but there was nothing there just our over active imaginations. We then proceeded to make a fire, which was interesting, and then make smores.



The rest of the day went well. When it came time to turn in for the night, Mindy fell asleep easily, but I however stayed up till till four in the morning reading my book, for some reason I got really scared and couldn't sleep so I distracted myself reading. Eventually I did fall asleep however.

The next day, Mindy made haluski and after that we went home. Mindy's gps took us home through these country back roads. Finally we made it home after a really fun time.
