Howl's Moving Castle Review

I decided to do a review of the amazing movie Howl's Moving Castle. True, it is not a comic book (which I said I would review) or a video game. But this movie is just so good, I have to talk about it.

The animated movie Howl's Moving Castle was in fact based a young adult fantasy novel by British author Diana Wynne Jones. It came out in 1986 and won many awards. In 2005 Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki, whose work I absolutly adore, adapted it into a film with Studio Ghibli.

The plot of the movie is funny and exciting. The main character Sophie is a hat maker in her later father's shop and she accidently meets the wizard Howl. He takes a liking to her, which in turns draws the attention of sorceress called the Witch of The Waste. She wants Howl for herself so she curses Sophie, turning her into an old crone. Shocked by her new appearance, she runs away, befriending a scarecrow she names Turnip Head. Together they stumble upon Howl's castle and Sophie takes up residence lying to Howl that she's his new cleaing lady. Now I don't want to give away to much of the plot, but there is war, and kings and queens, monsters and magic. Howl's Moving Castle is an amazing movie with stunning artwork and voice acting from Christian Bale,  Jean Simmons, and Billy Crystal. I suggest that anyone interested in fantasy and awesome movies in general watch this film.
